Some stats from the closing ceremony:
This is the 4th time we've run the CTF (sometimes as Cisco/Portcullis, this year as Team Alpaca). This year we had 106 challenges covering a scavenger hunt, hashes to crack, PCAPs to parse, binaries to reverse and vulnerable services to exploit.
Over the game period, bandwidth usage peaked out at 24.4Mbps and disk usage at 19.4MB/s. The time machine challenge resulted in single CPU being pegged at 100%, required reprovisioning (x4 vCPUs) - go Ansible/Docker!
Jonty was yet again an item in the scavenger hunt category - sorry Jonty :). We also caused uproar in the HAM community over "parabolic antenna". We included a badge challenge for the first time.
All in all, 43 teams registered to play including one person playing over the Internet on their own (who came a creditable 5th) after some confusion around whether we were in fact, the Def Con CTF. There were 401 correct flag submissions as well as 507 incorrect submissions. We'll see you all in 2020!
The final scoreboard for the top three places looked something like this:
* Never try - 1st
* bele team - 2nd
* Grace Hopper's Posse - 3rd
